Yellow Hardy Waterlilies

These yellow coloured waterlilies are suitable for medium to larger ponds or even farm dams. They require a much larger water surface area for their leaf spread, hence, coverage is more when compared with small/miniature size waterlilies. Growth tip of the plant could be submerged between 20cms to 40cms below the water surface. Any deeper than 40cms the plant may not flower or grow properly.

Nymphaea 'Moorei' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Adelaide Botanic Gardens, 1885) Beautiful light yellow flowers. Very similar to Marliacea Chromatella except the leaves are green leaves with tiny red speckles instead of blotches. The first ever Australian hybrid. This is the true form. NOT the mis-named waterlily with double flowers and blotchy leaves sold under this name in Australia. Rare.

Nymphaea 'Perry's Super Yellow' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Slocum, 1996) NEW! The flowers are super large (up to dinner plate size). Gorgeous starry yellow blooms. Large green leaves mottled with small purplish-brown splashes. Excellent as cut flowers as it blooms reliably. Suits dam plantings or large ponds. Overall, a fairly large growing plant. An import from Perry's Water Gardens (USA). Rare. Very limited supply.

Nymphaea 'Sunrise' (Hardy Waterlily)
(????, c.1947) Magnificent huge bright yellow starry flowers. Bright green egg shaped leaves initially speckled with maroon and fading to green with age. This is the true form and not the mis-identified yellow waterlily sold under this name in Australia. It is slower to propagate than other yellow varieties. Excellent for large ponds and farm dams. A very worthwhile variety for display plantings.

Nymphaea 'Texas Dawn' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Landon, 1990) One of our earlier imports from USA. Excellent cut flower stems. Large bright yellow flowers infused with rose pink at base of petals. Green leaves speckled with purplish-maroon. Flowers extremely well under the southern Australian climate. A reliable bloomer. Slower to propagate than other yellow varieties. Rare.

Nymphaea 'Yellow Princess' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Slocum, 1991) - Attractive starry flowers with inner petals bright yellow and outer petals creamy yellow. Unlike some hybrids, this one does not have any blushes or hints of pink in the flower. Green leaves initially speckled with purplish-brown along the leaf margin. Rare and in Limited supply.

Nymphaea odorata 'Sulphurea' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Latour-Marliac, 1880) An old fashion waterlily hybrid. Beautiful sulphur yellow star shaped blooms. Round green leaves heavily mottled and blotched with purplish-maroon. More of a medium sized growing plant and NOT the large growing plants sold incorrectly under this name in Australia. Limited supply.
