Below is some of the waterlilies currently maintained in our waterlily collection. The list contains out of season varieties as well as the rarer ones. The rare varieties include those that has been used by the artist Claude Monet to the more recent hybrids, bred both locally in Australia and overseas. Some varieties in this collection has never been released commercially while some is available from time to time in small quantities. Please enquire for availability.

(Randig, 1946) Beautiful flowers with a blend of autumn colours. Bright green leaves. Tend to be cold-sensitive in slightly cooler areas.

Nymphaea 'Anna Epple'

Nymphaea 'Anna Epple' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Epple, 1970) NEW! An older variety but probably the most beautiful pink single blooming hardy waterlily to date. Soft intense pink petals with rounded tips. Reddish-brown leaves fading to green with age. Mature leaves has a reddish-brown edge. The flowers are scented with gentle sweet fragrance. It is also a reliable bloomer. One of our favourite imports. Rare.

Nymphaea 'Arcadia Gold' (Hardy Water Lily)
(Harder, 2002) NEW! Beautiful semi-double strong golden yellow starry flowers with long narrow buds. Round bright green leaves splashed and speckled with brown. Very free flowering and undemanding. Excellent as cut flowers. A hybrid by the late waterlily hybridiser, Johan Harder. This plant was sourced from the hybridiser's garden. Very rare in cultivation worldwide. Limited quantities available only.

Nymphaea 'Arcadia Southern Cross' (Tropical Waterlily)
(Harder, c. 1999) NEW! Very eye-catching violet-purple flowers. Beautiful green leaves heavily splashed, blotched and speckled with purplish-brown. It is also mildly viviparous, where new plantlets are formed from older leaves. Excellent as cut flowers as it blooms profusely. A great variety bred by the late waterlily hybridiser, Johan Harder. Rare.

Nymphaea 'Arcadia'

Nymphaea 'Arcadia' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Harder, c.1999) Probably the best double white variety since Gonnère. Beautiful pure white petals in bowl shaped flower. Bright green leaves of somewhat waxy texture. Although a large grower, it is rewarding with huge blooms unfold. Sweetly scented. Free flowering in full sun. Excellent as cut flowers as it blooms profusely. Probably the best white variety bred by the late waterlily hybridiser, Johan Harder. Rare.

(Latour-Marliac, 1910) Attractive garnet red flowers. Large bright green oval leaves. This is the true form, not another red flowering cultivar sold under this name. Uncommon.

(Latour-Marliac, 1931) Beautiful red flowers tipped with white on outer petals. Large waxy textured oval to round green leaves. Very free flowering. A reliable lily that can have up to 4 or 5 buds at the same time on an established plant. Suitable for large ponds and dams. Rare.

(Latour-Marliac, 1929) Lovely bright yellow starry flowers. Green leaves initially blotched and speckled with purplish-brown. Retain leaves overwinter in temperate zone areas. It is viviparous (i.e., spent flower buds will form new plants). Rare and unusual.

(Latour-Marliac, 1909) Beautiful bright vermilion red flowers opening cup shaped and becoming stellate shaped with age. A large grower with large round green leaves. This is the true plant. Unfortunately, there is a similar looking waterlily that is sold under this name in Australia. Rare.

(Randig, 1931) Very beautiful medium pink flowers held high above large green leaves highly blotched with chestnut brown patterns radiating from the centre of the leaves. Uncommon.

(Slocum, ????) Exceptionally large and beautiful double watermelon red flowers in the shape of a bowl. Huge round green leaves. Suits only the large ponds or dam. An import from Perry's Water Gardens (USA). Quite rare.

Nymphaea 'Gypsy'

(Strawn, 1998) One of the more interesting hybrids from the late Kirk Strawn. Attractive near flat rose pink deepening to crimson-pink flowers. Petals are near round at tips. Deep green leaves initially blotched and splashed with brown. A compact growing plant that would also suit the smaller pond. One of our imports from Strawn Water Gardens (USA). Uncommon.

Nymphaea 'Innerlight'

Nymphaea 'Innerlight' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Strawn, 1997) Huge and beautiful double creamy yellow flowers that has brighter yellow centre. Strong fragrance. Green leaves that are faintly blotched and splashed bronze-brown. Unique leaf undersides that are plain reddish brown in colour instead of speckled patterns that are common in other yellow hardy waterlily hybrids.

(Dreer, 1899) Beautiful deep rich-pink cup to globular shaped flowers. Gentle apple-like scent. Attractive purplish-dark green circular leaves occasionally splashed with purple.

Nymphaea 'Joanne Pring'

Nymphaea 'Joanne Pring' (Small Hardy Waterlily)
(Pring, 1942) A small growing waterlily with attractive highly flecked medium to deep pink flowers. Slightly fragrant. Bronzed dark green leaves that are very rarely splashed with purple. Not to be confused with the similar cultivar Laydekeri Lilacea that has more colourful leaves. It is said to be a natural pink variant of the species Nymphaea tetragona.

Nymphaea 'Laydekeri Lilacea'

Nymphaea 'Laydekeri Lilacea' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Latour-Marliac, 1893) Beautiful lilac pink flowers deepening each day to carmine or pinkish-red at the centre of the flower with age. Purplish-green leaves blotched and splashed with purplish-brown towards edge of the leaves. It is much smaller growing than the cultivar Joanne Pring. The much more colourful leaves is one of the distinctive difference between the two varieties. Sweet tea-like fragrance. Rare.

Nymphaea 'Lemon Mist'

Nymphaea 'Lemon Mist' (Hardy Waterlily)
(Strawn, 1997) Very beautiful lemon sherbet coloured flowers. Strong lemon fragrance. Green leaves that are initially blotched brown. Unique leaf undersides that are plain reddish brown in colour instead of speckled patterns that are common in other yellow hardy waterlily hybrids. A more recent hybrid by Kirk Strawn.

(Slocum, 1993) Very interesting double pastel pink flowers with deeper pink centre. Flowers are in a somewhat globular shape. Plant it in a bigger container and give it room so it can bloom nicely. One of our imports from Perry's Water Gardens (USA). Rare.

(Latour-Marliac, 1887) One of the older hybrids that is seldomly seen in cultivation these days. A beautiful and elegant waterlily with gentle pink tones. Flowers are delicately fragrant. The green leaves are round to full circular shape. Plants from another hybrid "Marliacea Carnea" is often sold under this name in Australia. Rare.

(Johnson, 1930) An old variety not common in cultivation. Very attractive cup shaped peach blossom pink flowers. Petals are more rounded. Golden yellow stamens. Leaves deep green occasionally blotched with purplish maroon.

(Latour-Marliac, 1927) An old import from England. Beautiful strawberry pink-red and white flowers with outer petals white. Bright green leaves. Requires full sun to flower well. Flowers freely once established. One for the collector. An old cultivar that is very slow to propagate and are not commonly available. Vintage & Rare.
