Apios americana (Ground Nut)
An aquatic twiner. Interesting red flowers over summer. Rhizomes are said to be edible. Rare.

Beautiful white orchid-like flowers. Long green strap-like leaves sometimes with brownish patterns. Prefers the cooler climate or semi-shade to flower well.
